The audio phase follows for three minutes through two 20 W speakers, and then it rests for seven before starting again.\n\nThe ultrasonic part of that is above most human hearing. The audio part is not, and this is the honest limit on where the unit belongs: it is a farm and yard product. On a balcony or a terraced boundary it will be a complaint before it is a solution.\n\nThe strobe covers the night. Four red and four blue LEDs in two fisheye lamps, which is the part that works on nocturnal visitors when the sound is doing nothing.\n\nTwo claims from the original listing are deliberately not repeated here. It was advertised at 130 to 180 decibels, which is not physically plausible for a solar garden unit and would be a hearing hazard rather than a feature, and the manufacturer's own specification on the same page says 120 dB. It was also advertised at over 90 per cent solar efficiency, against a real world figure for a panel of this kind of roughly 15 to 22 per cent.
