It is the point version of the reflective tape idea: the discs turn in the wind and throw moving light across a small area.
The appeal is that nothing needs fixing. Hang it from a beam, a branch, a hook, a rail or a boat fitting and it is installed.
It suits carports, patios, balconies, small trees, boats, jetties and anywhere you cannot or do not want to drill.
Both faces are mirrored, which matters: single sided discs go dark for half of every turn.
The discs solve a problem the tape does not. Tape works along a line and needs somewhere to tie both ends. A hanging disc works at a point and needs one hook.
That makes it the practical choice for a carport beam, a patio corner, a small fruit tree, a balcony rail or a boat. It is also the only product in the range you can take down and move in ten seconds, which matters if the problem moves.
Both faces being mirrored is not a marketing line, it is the difference between a deterrent that flashes continuously and one that goes dark every half turn. It is worth checking on any product of this kind.
Like the tape, it needs light and air movement and birds do habituate. Hanging two in different places and swapping them every few weeks works better than hanging one and forgetting it.

Can I take it down in the rainy season?

Does it need power?

Will it deter bats?
No. Bats fly at night.
Will it work on mynas?
In an open area with wind, it helps. Mynas are bold, so expect to combine it with something physical.
How do I hang it from a concrete beam?
A cup hook into a plug, or a cable tie round an existing fitting.
