Looking after it
Scrape and reapply rather than layering fresh gel over old. Old gel that has collected dust is a surface a bird can stand on.
About this product
Liquid spikes, for where a spike would be seen.
A clear, sticky, non toxic gel applied with an ordinary caulking gun. Invisible from below, which is why it exists on buildings a strip would spoil.
A clear, sticky, non toxic petroleum based gel that makes a surface unpleasant to stand on.
It is applied with an ordinary caulking gun in straight or wavy lines, and it is invisible from ground level once it is on.
That invisibility is the whole reason to choose it: on a decorated facade, a cornice or a heritage frontage, a spike strip is a visual change and this is not.
It suits ledges, window sills, gutters, beams, signs, rafters, railings, light poles, cornices and ornamental copings.
Sold in a 3 cartridge pack covering about 10 linear metres and a 12 cartridge pack covering about 40.

Gel is the answer to a specific question: what do you do about a surface where a spike strip would be the wrong thing to look at?

It works on touch rather than on geometry. The surface becomes sticky and unpleasant, birds stop landing on it, and there is nothing to see from below because a clear bead on a ledge reads as nothing at all.

Application is a caulking gun and a steady hand. Straight or wavy lines along the surface, following the instructions on the cartridge for the amount, because too much and too little both cause problems. Too little leaves clean gaps to stand in and too much runs in the heat.
Longevity is the honest weak point compared with a spike. Expect about a year, less in strong sun, and plan on reapplying. On a surface that gets full afternoon sun in the dry season it will need doing more often.
Two cautions. Do not apply it where small birds are the problem, because a small bird can get gel on its feathers. And keep it off surfaces that will be handled, because it is designed not to come off easily.

Got questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
How is it applied?
With a standard caulking gun, in straight or wavy lines along the surface. No special applicator.
How much does a cartridge cover?
About 3.3 linear metres. Twelve cartridges cover roughly 40 metres.
Which pack should I buy?
The 3 pack for a sill or a short run, the 12 pack for a facade or a commercial job.
Is it visible?
Not from ground level. That is the reason it exists alongside the spike strips.
How long does it last?
Around a year, and less in strong sun. It is the one product here that needs reapplying.
Is it toxic?
No. It is a non toxic petroleum based formula that does not damage buildings.
Does it harm birds?
It is not designed to. It makes a surface unpleasant. There is one real caution: small birds can get gel on their feathers, so do not use it where small birds are the problem.
Where should I not use it?
Anywhere people put a hand, and anywhere small birds rather than pigeons are the issue.
Will it stain the building?
It can attract dust and darken over time on a light coloured stone. Test a small area on anything decorative.
Can I use it on a heritage building?
It is often the only acceptable option, but ask the building's conservation adviser first. Anything applied to historic fabric is their call.
Can I put fresh gel over old?
No. Scrape the old off first. Old gel that has collected dust is a surface a bird can stand on, which is the opposite of the point.
Does it work in the rain?
Yes, it is formulated for any weather. Heavy sun is harder on it than rain.
Can I use it indoors?
Yes, on beams and rafters in warehouses and covered walkways.
What surfaces does it suit?
Ledges, window sills, gutters, beams, signs, rafters, railings, light poles, cornices and ornamental copings.
Will it work on pigeons?
Yes, that is the main use.
Will it work on gulls?
On a ledge, yes. On an exposed ridge, spikes hold up better.
How do I remove it?
Scrape it off and clean the residue with a suitable solvent. It is designed to stay put, so removal takes work.
Do I need gloves?
Yes. It is extremely sticky and it does not wash off easily.
How much should I put down?
Follow the cartridge instructions. Too little leaves clean gaps to stand in, too much runs in the heat.
Will it run in hot weather?
Over applied gel can. Apply the specified amount rather than a generous one.
Can I combine it with spikes?
Yes. Gel where the appearance matters, spikes where it does not, on the same building.
Is it better than spikes?
It is more discreet and it costs less to start. Spikes last far longer and never need reapplying.
Is it a dropship item?
It is fulfilled separately from our warehouse stock, at the same delivery times.
How many metres do I actually have?
Measure the run in metres and divide by 3.3 to get cartridges, then round up.
Does it come in other colours?
Clear only, which is the point of it.
Does it attract insects?
It is not a food product and it is not designed to. Dust is the thing that collects on it, which is why it needs scraping and redoing rather than topping up.
How much is delivery?
Delivery is Philippines wide. It is free on orders over ₱1,900 and ₱650 below that, and orders leave after a 24 to 48 hour handling time, arriving in about 5 to 7 days.
Can I return it if I ordered the wrong amount?
You have 15 days from delivery to send an unused item back in its original packaging for an exchange or a refund, and 30 days to tell us if something arrived faulty or was not what you ordered. Cancelling a paid order before it ships carries a 12.5 per cent processing fee. None of that affects your rights under the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
Do you deliver outside Metro Manila?
Yes. We deliver across Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, and the free threshold and the flat rate are the same wherever you are.
Can I buy in bulk for a building or a site?
Yes. Ask for a quote on the wholesale page and tell us the total run in metres, the surface, and whether access needs scaffolding or a lift.
