A continuously cycling deterrent runs whether or not anything is there, which drains the battery and gives the local wildlife more chance to get used to it. A radar triggered unit is quiet until something moves, which uses less power and keeps the startle effect fresher.
It is the better fit for a garden, a small yard, a roof terrace or a produce area. The sonic unit on the other page is a farm product with a loud audio phase; this one is closer to a household scale.
Placement is most of the result. Point it at the route in, not at the middle of the space, and mount it at roughly the height the animal arrives at. Ultrasound does not go round corners, so anything solid in the way is a shadow the animal will find.

Will it bother my pets?
It may. If you have a dog or a cat that uses the area, point it away from where they sleep or choose a physical deterrent instead.
