Looking after it
Clear leaves and nesting material out from between the pins once or twice a year. Once enough debris packs in, a bird can stand on that instead of on the spikes, which is the one way a fitted strip stops working.
About this product
For the top of a boundary, not a ledge.
The same stainless strip, fitted along a fence rail or a wall capping. A boundary is a route, so it is the gaps that decide whether it works.
The same 304 stainless strip as our standard bird spike, listed here because a fence is a different fitting job from a ledge.
A ledge is a destination and a fence is a route, so a fence has to be covered continuously rather than at the spots you have noticed.
Fits a timber rail, a concrete capping, a hollow block wall top, a steel gate frame or a run of railing.
Sold per 50 cm strip with no minimum, so you can buy the exact boundary length and finish the run flush.
It deters birds from perching and it also stops cats and climbing pests using the fence top as a path.

Worth saying plainly, because it decides what you order. Nine pages on this site sell the SAME stainless strip, named for the animal people type into a search box. There is no different spike behind the pigeon page or the seagull page. What changes from page to page is the advice, and that genuinely does change.

The fence version of the job is about arithmetic more than technique. A 12 metre boundary is 24 strips, and 23 strips leaves half a metre that every animal in the neighbourhood will find within a week.

Corners and gate posts are the other weak point. Use several short lengths round a corner rather than bending one strip, because a bent strip lifts at both ends within a season.
On a timber rail, screw it. On concrete capping or hollow block, clean the surface and bed it in UV stabilised silicone. On a steel gate or a railing, cable ties are neater than glue and easier to undo later.
If you rent, fit with screws or a removable adhesive. It is a two minute decision at the start and a much longer one later.
Still deciding?
Not sure yet? That is fine.

Got questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a different spike from your standard bird spikes?
No, it is the same 304 stainless strip. This page exists because fitting to a boundary raises different questions from fitting to a ledge.
How much do I need for my fence?
Measure the whole boundary in centimetres and divide by 50, then round up. Buy for the full run, not for the section where you have seen the problem.
Will it stop cats getting over the fence?
It stops them settling on the fence top and using it as a path. A determined cat that can jump the whole fence in one go is a fence height problem, not a spike problem.
Will it stop people climbing in?
We do not sell it as a security product and we would not want it described that way. It is a blunt animal deterrent.
Can I fit it to a hollow block wall?
Yes, that is one of the commonest uses here. Clean off the moss and dust first, then bed it in silicone.
What about a bamboo or timber fence?
Screws or nails, straight into the rail. Predrill hardwood so the base does not split when you tighten down.
How do I deal with a gate?
Treat the gate as its own run and finish both edges flush. The gap over a gate post is the classic weak point.
Will it damage the fence?
Screws leave holes and adhesive leaves a residue. Cable ties on a railing leave nothing at all.
Can I take it with me if I move?
If you fitted it with screws or cable ties, yes. Silicone bedded strips come off, but not neatly.
Does it work on a wall as well as a fence?
Yes. A wall top is the same job: a continuous line, cleaned, with the strip finishing flush at both ends.
Will it rust where the fence gets wet?
No, the pins are 304 stainless. That matters more on a boundary than on a sheltered ledge, because a fence top gets every drop of rain.
Do I need two rows on a wide capping?
On a capping wider than about 15 cm, yes, or you leave a landing strip down one side.
What are they made of?
304 stainless steel pins on a UV stabilised polycarbonate base. The pins do not rust and the base does not go chalky in the sun.
How are they sold?
Per 50 cm strip, with no minimum. Order one if one is all the ledge needs.
How many strips do I need?
Measure the run in centimetres, divide by 50 and round up. The half metre you leave bare at the end is exactly where they will stand.
Do I need two rows?
On anything wider than about 15 cm, yes. One row down the middle of a wide ledge leaves landing room on both sides of it.
What do I fix them with?
UV stabilised silicone adhesive on masonry and tile, screws or nails where there is something to bite into, cable ties on railings and pipes.
Do I have to prepare the surface?
Yes, and it is the step people skip. Scrape off the old droppings and moss, wash the surface, let it dry. Dirt under adhesive is why a strip lifts after one rainy season.
Can I cut them?
Yes. Trim the last strip so the run finishes flush and there is no gap at the end.
Will they fit a curved ledge?
Yes, in short lengths. Several 50 cm pieces follow a curve; one long piece forced round it will lift at the ends.
Do they hurt the animal?
No. The wires are blunt and closely spaced. The animal arrives, finds nowhere to put its feet, and goes somewhere else. That is the whole mechanism.
Are they safe around children and pets?
They are meant for surfaces out of reach. Fit them where nobody puts a hand: above head height, along a parapet, on top of a fence rail.
Will they rust in the rain?
No. 304 stainless is the reason this version costs more than the plastic one, and in a coastal or monsoon climate it is the version worth buying.
How long do they last?
They are made for permanent outdoor use. We do not publish a figure in years, because the honest answer depends on the site.
Are they visible from the ground?
The base is clear and about 5 mm high, and the wires are thin. From street level most people never notice them.
Do you install them?
No, we supply only. Anything at height should be a job for someone equipped to work there safely.
How much is delivery?
Delivery is Philippines wide. It is free on orders over ₱1,900 and ₱650 below that, and orders leave after a 24 to 48 hour handling time, arriving in about 5 to 7 days.
Can I return it if I ordered the wrong amount?
You have 15 days from delivery to send an unused item back in its original packaging for an exchange or a refund, and 30 days to tell us if something arrived faulty or was not what you ordered. Cancelling a paid order before it ships carries a 12.5 per cent processing fee. None of that affects your rights under the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
Do you deliver outside Metro Manila?
Yes. We deliver across Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, and the free threshold and the flat rate are the same wherever you are.
Can I buy in bulk for a building or a site?
Yes. Ask for a quote on the wholesale page and tell us the total run in metres, the surface, and whether access needs scaffolding or a lift.
