About this product
The plastic version of the anti-climb strip.
Same caveat as the stainless possum page: the animal is not local, the strip is real. This is the cheaper, no assembly version for fences and beams.
The moulded plastic version of our anti-climb strip, and the cheaper of the two possum pages.
As on the stainless page, the name is a search term. Possums are an overseas animal and they do not occur in the Philippines.
The strip itself is a genuine climbing deterrent: fit it along a fence top, a beam or a pipe run to break a route something uses every night.
It arrives in one piece with nothing to assemble, which is what makes it quick on a long run.
Sold per 50 cm with no minimum, fixed with screws, tape, adhesive or cable ties.

Four pages on this site sell this one moulded plastic strip, listed under the animal each visitor came looking for. The strip is identical on all four. We would rather tell you that than have you order three things that are one thing.

Two pages on this site carry the possum name because two different strips are sold under it, and the difference between them is worth a sentence. The stainless one holds its shape under load and lasts better in salt air. This one costs less and fits faster.

Both do the same job, which is interrupting a horizontal route. Warehouses are a good example that has nothing to do with birds: a rat run along a roof beam is a line, and a line is exactly what this product is for.

Coverage is the only thing that decides whether it works. An animal already walking the beam is not stopped by an obstacle it can step over, so treat the whole run and pay attention to where it starts and ends.

For a genuinely local pest problem, the useful pages on this site are the bird spikes, the netting and the cat spikes. This page is honest about being named for somewhere else.

Got questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
Are there possums in the Philippines?
No. They are an overseas animal. The page keeps the name because people search for it; the product is a general anti-climb strip.
What is the difference between this and the stainless possum page?
This is moulded plastic in one piece, cheaper and faster to fit. The stainless version holds its shape better under load and in salt air.
What will it work on locally?
Any animal travelling along a horizontal line: cats on a fence, rats along a beam or a pipe, climbing animals using a capping as a path.
Can I fit it indoors?
Yes. Warehouse and factory beams are one of the better uses, because a rat run is a repeated line.
How do I know where the route is?
Look for rub marks, droppings and a worn line along a horizontal surface. The animal will have been consistent.
Do I need to cover the whole beam?
Yes. A gap is a step, not an obstacle.
Will it injure anything?
No. Blunt moulded points, and it is not a trap.
How is it fixed to a steel beam?
Cable ties through the fixing holes, or a construction adhesive rated for metal. Not tape, on a dusty beam.
Will it work outdoors long term?
Yes, it is rated for sun and rain and there is no metal in it to corrode.
Can I cut it to length?
Yes, it divides between segments.
Is it strong enough for something heavier than a rat?
For a heavy animal or a load bearing position, use the stainless strip.
Do you supply for whole sites?
Yes. Send the total run in metres through the wholesale and quote form.
What are they made of?
One piece of injection moulded polypropylene. No metal, nothing to corrode, nothing to assemble.
How are they sold?
Per 50 cm segment, with no minimum order.
How many do I need?
Measure the whole run, divide by 50 cm and round up. A boundary is only as good as its shortest untreated section.
How do I fix them down?
Screws or nails into timber, adhesive or double sided tape on brick and render, cable ties on railings. There are fixing holes moulded in.
Do they need assembly?
No. This is the difference between this strip and the stainless one: it comes out of the packet finished.
Can I cut them?
Yes, they divide to length for a short run or an awkward corner.
Do they hurt the animal?
No. The points are blunt moulded plastic and they are there to make a surface uncomfortable to stand on, not to injure anything.
Will they rust?
There is no metal in them, so no. That is the case for choosing plastic over stainless where the look matters more than the exposure.
Will the sun make them brittle?
The polypropylene is rated for sun and rain. It stays flexible enough to sit on a fence top that moves in the wind.
Why choose these over the stainless strip?
Cost, appearance and the fact that they need no assembly. Choose stainless for coastal exposure, for a commercial specification, or where you want the least visible fitting.
Are they safe around children and pets?
Fit them where nobody grips: the top of a fence, a wall capping, a ledge above head height. They are blunt, but a fence top is not a handrail.
How long do they last?
They are made for permanent outdoor use. We do not publish a service life, because it depends on the site rather than on the product.
Do they need looking after?
Rinse the dust off when you wash the fence. Otherwise nothing.
Do you fit them?
No, we supply only.
How much is delivery?
Delivery is Philippines wide. It is free on orders over ₱1,900 and ₱650 below that, and orders leave after a 24 to 48 hour handling time, arriving in about 5 to 7 days.
Can I return it if I ordered the wrong amount?
You have 15 days from delivery to send an unused item back in its original packaging for an exchange or a refund, and 30 days to tell us if something arrived faulty or was not what you ordered. Cancelling a paid order before it ships carries a 12.5 per cent processing fee. None of that affects your rights under the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
Do you deliver outside Metro Manila?
Yes. We deliver across Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, and the free threshold and the flat rate are the same wherever you are.
Can I buy in bulk for a building or a site?
Yes. Ask for a quote on the wholesale page and tell us the total run in metres, the surface, and whether access needs scaffolding or a lift.
