Looking after it

Clear leaves and nesting material out from between the pins once or twice a year. Once enough debris packs in, a bird can stand on that instead of on the spikes, which is the one way a fitted strip stops working.

Nest PreventionA blocked downpipe starts as one nest
Along The LipFits the outer edge or the fascia above
Cut To LengthFinish flush at hoppers and brackets
No Moving PartsNothing to clear, nothing to service

Stop the nest before it becomes a blocked downpipe.

The same stainless strip, fitted along a gutter line. This is the one job where the spikes pay for themselves in avoided water damage rather than in tidiness.

The same 304 stainless strip, listed here because a gutter is the one place where bird nesting turns into water damage.

A gutter is sheltered, level and out of reach, which makes it the best nesting site on most buildings.

Fit the strip along the outer lip or on the fascia immediately above, and cut round brackets and hoppers so the line finishes flush.

Sold per 50 cm with no minimum, so a single problem elevation costs a few hundred pesos rather than a roofing job.

Best fitted in the dry months, before the rains and outside the nesting season.

Gutter Spikes | Pest Spike Strips For Gutters | Guttering Spike (per 50cm strip)

Worth saying plainly, because it decides what you order. Nine pages on this site sell the SAME stainless strip, named for the animal people type into a search box. There is no different spike behind the pigeon page or the seagull page. What changes from page to page is the advice, and that genuinely does change.

Gutter Spikes | Pest Spike Strips For Gutters | Guttering Spike (per 50cm strip)

The economics of this page are different from the others. On a ledge, droppings are a cleaning problem. In a gutter, one nest holds water back, the water finds the fascia, and by the time anybody notices the repair is a carpenter rather than a hose.

Gutter Spikes | Pest Spike Strips For Gutters | Guttering Spike (per 50cm strip)

Fit along the outer lip if the gutter is deep, or on the fascia just above it if the lip is too narrow to take a base. Both work. What does not work is leaving the last metre near the downpipe untreated, because that is the sheltered end and it is where they build.

Cut round brackets rather than skipping them. Every skipped bracket is a 10 cm gap, and a 10 cm gap is a foundation.

Timing matters here more than anywhere else on the site. Clear and fit in the dry season. Never remove a nest that is in use: wait until the birds have finished with it, then clean the run out and fit so they cannot rebuild.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. You have 15 days from delivery to return an unused item in its original packaging for an exchange or a refund. Refunds exclude the original delivery charge, and you pay the postage back unless the item was faulty.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The Consumer Act of the Philippines (Republic Act 7394) covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a special gutter product?

No, it is the same 304 stainless strip we sell for every other surface. The page is about where it goes and when.

Do I fit it inside the gutter or outside?

On the outer lip, or on the fascia directly above. Never inside the channel, where it would trap leaves and make the blockage you are trying to prevent.

Will it stop the gutter draining?

Not if it is on the lip or the fascia. The base is only 23 mm wide and it does not sit in the water path.

What about the brackets?

Cut round them and carry the line on. A skipped bracket is a gap, and a gap is where the nest goes.

Should I do the whole roof or one side?

Start with the elevation that has the problem, but expect to treat the sheltered side eventually. Birds move along, they do not give up.

There is already a nest in the gutter.

Leave it until it is finished with. Clear it out then, wash the run through, and fit the strip so the site is no longer available next season.

When is the best time to fit?

Dry season, before the rains, and outside the nesting season. Adhesive needs a dry surface and you want the gutter clear before the first heavy downpour.

Will it hold in heavy rain and wind?

Bedded properly in UV stabilised silicone on a clean dry surface, yes. On an exposed roof edge, screw it as well.

Can I fit it to a PVC gutter?

Yes. Clean it with a degreaser first, because new PVC has a release film that adhesive will not bond through.

Do I need to go up a ladder?

Yes, and that is worth saying out loud. If it is above the first floor, get someone who works at height to do it.

Will it deal with the droppings down the wall?

It stops the birds standing above the wall, which is what causes the streaking. It will not clean what is already there.

Is it worth it for one gutter run?

A 6 metre run is 12 strips. Compare that with replacing a soaked fascia board.

What are they made of?

304 stainless steel pins on a UV stabilised polycarbonate base. The pins do not rust and the base does not go chalky in the sun.

How are they sold?

Per 50 cm strip, with no minimum. Order one if one is all the ledge needs.

How many strips do I need?

Measure the run in centimetres, divide by 50 and round up. The half metre you leave bare at the end is exactly where they will stand.

Do I need two rows?

On anything wider than about 15 cm, yes. One row down the middle of a wide ledge leaves landing room on both sides of it.

What do I fix them with?

UV stabilised silicone adhesive on masonry and tile, screws or nails where there is something to bite into, cable ties on railings and pipes.

Do I have to prepare the surface?

Yes, and it is the step people skip. Scrape off the old droppings and moss, wash the surface, let it dry. Dirt under adhesive is why a strip lifts after one rainy season.

Can I cut them?

Yes. Trim the last strip so the run finishes flush and there is no gap at the end.

Will they fit a curved ledge?

Yes, in short lengths. Several 50 cm pieces follow a curve; one long piece forced round it will lift at the ends.

Do they hurt the bird?

No. The wires are blunt and closely spaced. The animal arrives, finds nowhere to put its feet, and goes somewhere else. That is the whole mechanism.

Are they safe around children and pets?

They are meant for surfaces out of reach. Fit them where nobody puts a hand: above head height, along a parapet, on top of a fence rail.

Will they rust in the rain?

No. 304 stainless is the reason this version costs more than the plastic one, and in a coastal or monsoon climate it is the version worth buying.

How long do they last?

They are made for permanent outdoor use. We do not publish a figure in years, because the honest answer depends on the site.

Are they visible from the ground?

The base is clear and about 5 mm high, and the wires are thin. From street level most people never notice them.

Do you install them?

No, we supply only. Anything at height should be a job for someone equipped to work there safely.

How much is delivery?

Delivery is Philippines wide. It is free on orders over ₱1,900 and ₱650 below that, and orders leave after a 24 to 48 hour handling time, arriving in about 5 to 7 days.

Can I return it if I ordered the wrong amount?

You have 15 days from delivery to send an unused item back in its original packaging for an exchange or a refund, and 30 days to tell us if something arrived faulty or was not what you ordered. Cancelling a paid order before it ships carries a 12.5 per cent processing fee. None of that affects your rights under the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

Do you deliver outside Metro Manila?

Yes. We deliver across Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, and the free threshold and the flat rate are the same wherever you are.

Can I buy in bulk for a building or a site?

Yes. Ask for a quote on the wholesale page and tell us the total run in metres, the surface, and whether access needs scaffolding or a lift.

Not sure which one you need?

Tell us the bird, the surface and roughly how long the run is, and we will tell you what suits it before you buy. Free delivery on orders over ₱1,900.
